WSU-Oregon Football Kicks Off 2 p.m.
Oct. 1, 2004
PULLMAN, Wash. -- - The kickoff time for Washington State's upcoming Pacific-10 Conference battle with the Oregon Ducks Oct. 9 at WSU's Martin Stadium has returned to its original 2 p.m. schedule and will not be televised live by FSN, according to WSU officials.
'We were premature in making our initial announcement yesterday,' said WSU Senior Associate Athletics Director John Johnson.
Johnson said several factors resulted in the return to a 2 p.m. kickoff.
'First, not all affected parties had a chance to provide input into the decision and after further discussions, we believe it is in our interest to stay with the afternoon start,' he said.
'Certainly from our ticket holder's point of view, an afternoon game will be less disruptive than moving the game to an evening kickoff,' Johnson said 'Secondly, in talks yesterday with Pacific-10 Conference officials, we believe there is still a chance at least one of WSU's remaining football games could be selected for national viewing in the evening.'
