Black Tops Orange In Intrasquad/Alumni Meet

CORVALLIS, Ore. - The Black team beat the Orange team 104-78 in Oregon State's women's swimming Intrasquad/Alumni Meet on Saturday morning at Stevens Natatorium. Freshman Felicia Castaneda posted a time of 1 minute, 6.85 seconds in winning the 100-yard breaststroke; that would place her seventh on the school's all-time top 10 list in that event.

Other winners were the Black team of Malia Storie, Castaneda, Monika Miroslaw and Kristin Huston in the 200 medley relay (1:49.39); Courtney Eads in the 200 freestyle (1:54.20) and 500 freestyle (5:04.42); Miroslaw in the 200 individual medley (2:10.80) and 100 buttefly (57.93); Kristin Huston in the 50 freestyle (24.14) and 100 freestyle (53.80); Ausra Pacebutaite in the 100 backstroke (1:00.54); and the Orange team of Eads, Christian Kinney, Erika Wirth and Pacebutaite in the 400 freestyle relay (3:36.06).

OSU alum Julie Hockett Sedgwick competed in the 50, 100 and 200 freestyles.

The Beavers, who placed 20th at the NCAA Championships last season and posted their fifth straight winning dual meet record, start the 2004-05 regular season Oct. 23 with a double-dual meet at UCLA against the host Bruins and California-Santa Barbara.
