This is the third weekly honor for Adams, and USC's 34th Pac-10 Player of the Week all-time.
ARIZONA - The Wildcats hit the road with hopes of avoiding an 0-5 start for the second consecutive season... Freshman setter Amy Dyck saw extensive playing time against USC, picking up 24 assists in two games (12.00 apg)... Senior L Kelli Mulvany needs 26 digs to become the eighth Wildcat to reach 1,000 digs in a career... Before entering Pac-10 play, Arizona was hitting .272 in 10 non-conference matches. However, the Wildcats are hitting a combined .150 in four Pac-10 matches and have yet to hit .200 in a league contest.
ARIZONA STATE - Sophomore OH Nicole Morton has posted double digit kills in nine of 12 matches this season. It's the first time in Pac-10 history that both Arizona and Arizona State have each started league play at 0-4 in the same season... Freshman L Sydney Donahue ranks sixth in the Pac-10 with 4.02 digs per game. Donahue looks to become just the second freshman in school history to lead the team in digs. Current Sun Devil assistant coach Jami Coughlin tallied 355 digs during her freshman season in 1998.
CALIFORNIA - Senior OH Gabrielle Abernathy became the ninth player in California history to reach 1,000 career kills. With 1,013 kills, she's eighth on the school's all-time list... In the five-game loss at Stanford, sophomore L Jillian Davis set a school record with 33 digs, surpassing the 32 digs posted by Tiffany Rochelle against San Jose State on Oct. 11, 1988... Sophomore S Samantha Carter established a season-high with 65 assists against Stanford... Senior MH Camille Leffall has hit .323 or better in six of the last seven matches. Over the last seven matches, Leffall is hitting .390 (75 kills-15 errors-154 attempts).
OREGON - The Ducks snapped a 26-match Pac-10 losing streak with their victory over Washington State. The victory also snapped a 26-match losing streak to Washington State. The win also marked the Ducks' first Pac-10 road win outside the state of Oregon since winning at Arizona in 1998... Sophomore OH Sarah Mason posted 19 kills in the win at Washington State. The 19 kills equalled her career-high that she set last week against Oregon State. Over the last three matches, Mason has collected 48 kills (4.80 kpg) while hitting at a .279 clip.
OREGON STATE - The Beavers are off to a 2-1 start in Pac-10 play for the first time since 2001. OSU finished fifth with a 10-8 league record during that 2001 season and received an at large berth in the NCAA Tournament... Senior OH Allison Lawrence has recorded double-doubles in 10 of 12 matches played this season. She has 37 career double-doubles... Sophomore MB Abby Windell opened the season hitting .278 through the first five matches. Over the last seven matches, Windell is hitting .355. She ranks eighth in the league with a .325 hitting percentage.
STANFORD - Senior OH Ogonna Nnamani now has 1,895 career kills, which rank third all-time at Stanford and fifth on the Pac-10 career list. She needs 45 kills to vault into the top spot on the school's list and third on the Pac-10 list, passing former Cardinal standouts Logan Tom (1,939) and Kristin Klein (1,909)... Sophomore MB Liz Suiter has 35 blocks over the last four matches, averaging 2.33 blocks per game during that span... The Cardinal are currently 7-3 in regular season non-conference play. The last time Stanford posted more than three defeats in a regular season against non-conference competition was in 1987 (8-5).
UCLA - With 1,610 career digs, senior L Chrissie Zartman needs 12 digs to move into second on the Pac-10's career list... Sophomore OH Colby Lyman tallied a career-best 18 digs at Arizona State... Sophomore MB Nana Meriwether hit .333 with 23 kills (3.29 kpg) and 11 blocks (1.57 bpg) in the sweep of the Arizona schools. It was the first sweep of the desert schools since the 2000 season... Coach Andy Banachowski needs two victories to reach 975 career wins. UCLA's next opponent is California, a squad Banachowski and the Bruins have never lost to 44 matches.
USC - The Women of Troy hit .303 in their desert sweep of the Arizona schools... Senior MB Emily Adams turned in a big performance in her return to her home state. The Phoenix, Ariz., native collected 23 kills in 36 attempts with just two errors, hitting .583 in victories over Arizona State and Arizona... Senior OH Keao Burdine needs 26 digs to become the 10th USC player all-time to reach 1,000 digs in a career... The next victory by the Women of Troy will be coach Mick Haley's 100th at USC.
WASHINGTON - The Huskies have opened Pac-10 play at 4-0 for the first time in school history... Washington hit a combined .390 in its home sweep of the Oregon schools. Junior OH Brie Hagerty led the way by hitting .529 with 32 kills and five errors in 51 attempts... The Huskies lead the Pac-10 with 17.00 digs per game - a big reason for why they also lead the league in opponent hitting percentage (.116)... The Huskies averaged 1,778 fans in two matches last weekend.
WASHINGTON STATE - Freshman S Nicole Martinplayed just one game against Oregon State. The WSU team doctor has a suspicion that she has a torn rotator cuff in her left shoulder. That left setting duties to senior L Alison Billingsley. Billingsley, who last played setter during her junior year in high school, responded with 29 assists against Oregon State and 25 assists against Oregon... The Cougars have outblocked their opponents in four of the last five matches and are averaging 2.63 team blocks per game.
