    Saturday, Oct. 9, 7 p.m. - Corvallis, Ore.

The Arizona State Volleyball team (5-7, 0-4 Pac-10) takes back to the road this weekend with a pair of matches at Oregon (9-4, 1-2 Pac-10) and Oregon State (8-4, 2-1 Pac-10). The Sun Devils have lost four straight matches and will finally take a break from playing a ranked opponent. ASU has played five of the last six matches against teams ranked in the AVCA/CSTV top 25. ASU opens the road trip Friday night at 7 p.m. against the Oregon Ducks at McArthur Court and then plays Oregon State Saturday at 7 p.m. at Gill Coliseum in Corvallis.

    Scouting Oregon:
With a 9-4 overall record and a 1-2 mark in Pac-10 play, Oregon is off to one of their best starts in school history. The win over Washington State last weekend marked Oregon's first Pac-10 win since 2002. The Ducks lead the Pac-10 in service aces (2.56 per game average), but will be playing without start outside hitter Lauren Westendorf (5.06 kpg). Westendorf tore her ACL and will not play the rest of the season. ASU leads the all-time series against Oregon 29-7 and has won 12 straight over the Ducks dating back to 1997.

    Scouting Oregon State:
The Beavers head into the weekend tied for fifth place in the Pac-10 with a 2-1 record and an overall 8-4 mark. Oregon State has beaten rival Oregon and Washington State and lost to No. 1 Washington. Senior outside hitter Allison Lawrence leads the Beavers and ranks seventh in the Pac-10 averaging 3.96 kpg. ASU leads the all-time series against OSU 26-11 and has won three of the last four matches against the Beavers.

    Recapping Last Weekend:
The Sun Devils faced two of the premier volleyball programs in the nation last weekend to open home action in Pac-10 play. The Devils lost a pair of three-game matches to two-time defending national champion USC (21-30, 28-30, 21-30) and No. 10 UCLA (18-30, 28-30, 22-30). Sophomore outside hitter Nicole Morton led the Sun Devils averaging 3.40 kpg and 2.40 dpg during the two matches. Freshman middle blocker Colette Meek averaged 2.00 kpg and 1.20 blocks per game.

    Baby Devils:
The 2004 roster consists of seven freshman, three sophomores, one junior and three seniors. With season-ending knee injuries to seniors Natalie Harris (OH) and Giovana Melo (S), the Sun Devils are left with only two active upperclassmen on the roster. During parts of both matches last weekend, the Devils featured five freshmen and one sophomore on the court.

    Morton Leads The Way:
Sophomore outside hitter Nicole Morton (Bonsall, Calif.) has turned into ASU's offensive workhorse due to the knee injury of senior outside hitter Natalie Harris. Morton leads the team averaging 3.58 kills per game and 3.97 points per game, and is also second with 2.65 digs per game. She has led the team in kills in eight of ASU's 12 matches this season and has recorded five double-doubles.
