Bercek, Zalameda Begin Riviera Main Draw on Thursday

Pacific Palisades, Calif. - UCLA's Daniela Bercek and Riza Zalameda begin their quests for singles and doubles titles this week, as both are participating in main draws of the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships at the Riviera Tennis Club.

Bercek, a sophomore, will play Robin Stephenson of Alabama in her first singles match on Thursday. Zalameda, a freshmam, has draw Stanford's Erin Burdette in the first round.

Bercek and Zalameda also qualifed for the main draw in doubles and are scheduled to take on Fresno State's Jelena Pandzic/Lucia Tallo. Although they advanced to the main draw through the qualifying tournament, Bercek and Zalameda are serious contenders for this year's Riviera title. Bercek is the defending NCAA Doubles Champion (w/Lauren Fisher) and Zalameda is the reigning USTA Girls' 18s Doubles Champion.
