Pacific Palisades, Calif. - UCLA's Daniela Bercek fell in the second round of play at the Riviera/ITA All-American Tennis Championships Friday at the Riviera Tennis Club, concluding the Bruins' involvement in singles play at the tournament.
Bercek, who defeated Alabama's Robin Stephenson in the first round on Thursday, lost to second-seeded Megan Bradley of Miami, 6-3, 6-0 on Friday.
UCLA's only other entrant in main draw singles was freshman Riza Zalameda, who dropped a close first-round decision to Stanford's Erin Burdette, 7-6(7), 5-7, 7-6(4). Zalameda was then defeated in the consolation draw by Stephenson, 6-0, 6-3 on Friday.
Bercek and Zalameda are still alive in the doubles draw after winning their first-round match Thursday over Florida's Boglarka Berecz/Nina Suvak, 9-7. They are scheduled to take on another Florida duo, Whitney Benik and Lolita Frangulyan, in a late match on Friday.
