Stanford Plays Washington to 2-2 Draw

Seattle, Wash. - Stanford concluded its Northwest road trip with a 2-2 draw against Washington in Seattle on Sunday. The Cardinal got second half goals from Todd Leber and Cooper McKee, and the Huskies equalized with less that 12 minutes left in regulation to salvage the tie. Stanford's record now stands at 6-1-4 and 1-0-2 in conference play, while Washington's record moves to 9-3-1 and 2-0-1 in Pac-10 action.
Washington struck first, as C.J. Klaas knocked home a shot from 18-yards out that was deflected and found the back of the Cardinal net in the 25th minute. Stanford drew even early in the second half, as senior Todd Leber collected a rebound from a Darren Fernandez shot and scored from close range. The Cardinal pulled ahead just two minutes later when Cooper McKee concluded a long run into the Husky box with a strike from 12-yards out at the 63:48 mark. Washington equalized in the 79th minute, as Ely Allen was on the receiving end of Kevin Forrest cross and beat Cardinal goalkeeper Robby Fulton to tie the contest.
Fulton collected five saves in net for Cardinal, while Washington goalkeeper Chris Eylander registered a pair of saves for the Huskies. Washington out-shot Stanford by a 19-15 margin, and Klass led all players with five shot attempts. Senior Matt Janusz attempted a team-high four shots for the Cardinal.
Stanford returns to The Farm for a non-conference match against UC Davis at 5:00 pm on Friday, before hosting UCLA on Sunday afternoon.
