Beavers Tied For 13th In Stanford

STANFORD, Calif.- -
The Oregon State women's golf team is tied for 13th after the first round of the Stanford Pepsi Invitational in Stanford, Calif. The Beavers posted a team total of 299 Friday.
OSU was led by freshman Julie Uhrik, who fired a 4-over 74 on the shortened par-70 course. She is tied for 38th with two rounds to play.
'We had a pretty good day,' said OSU head coach Risë Lakowske.
'The course is under construction, but it still has a high degree of difficulty.
'These greens are always tricky and difficult to read, but we're working on improving our putting.'
Arizona State is in first with a 2-over 282. Pepperdine and Washington are tied for second, two strokes behind the Sun Devils.
Pepperdine's Rachel Kyono and Washington's Paige MacKenzie share the individual lead after each firing 67. MacKenzie took third at last year's event.
Sophomore Lindsay Eide posted an 83.
'The girls weren't too happy with their short game,' added Lakowske.
'They had a lot of putts today, but we're looking forward to getting better tomorrow.'
The second round begins Saturday morning.
