Volleyball Swept By No. 13 California
Oct. 16, 2004
BERKELEY, Calif. - Oregon State senior Allison Lawrence had another big night for the Beavers, but No. 13 ranked University of California recorded a 30-20, 30-27, 30-24 sweep in Saturday's Pacific-10 Conference volleyball match.
Oregon State evens its record at 8-8 on the season and drops to 2-5 in the Pac-10, while California improves to 10-6 overall and 5-2 in conference action.
Lawrence, an outside hitter, led the Beavers with 16 kills, while posting a .250 attack percentage and two service aces. Lawrence has reached double figures in kills in a team-high 13 matches on the year, and her 16 on the night move her into a tie for 8th place in the OSU record book with 1,098 career kills.
The balanced Cal attack saw three players reach double figures in kills, led by Angie Pressey's double-double of 15 kills and 10 digs.
The schedule doesn't get any easier for the Beavers, who are looking to break a five-match slide. Oregon State hosts No. 6 ranked USC on Thursday at 7 p.m. in Gill Coliseum.
