Oct. 18, 2004

Corvallis, Ore. - Lou Groza Award.

Mason Crosby of Colorado, Alexis Serna of Oregon State, and Tyler Jones of Boise State have been selected as this week's Lou Groza Award Top Three Stars of the Week.

In a record-breaking performance, Mason Crosby of Colorado earns one of this week's stars. In a 19-14 win over Iowa State, Crosby went 4-4 and broke two school records on Saturday. The longest field goal in school history, a 60-yarder in the second quarter and a 54 yard field goal as the clock expired in the half made Mason the first kicker at Colorado to nail two 50+ yard field goals in a game. Mason also made kicks of 28 and 33 yards.

Redshirt freshman, Alexis Serna of Oregon State made up for a slow start on the season with 5 field goals against rival Washington on Saturday. Serna silenced the Huskies' crowd with kicks of 23, 27, 31, 36 and 55 yards on Saturday and led the Beavers to their first victory at Washington since 1985. Serna's 17 points led Oregon State to a 29-14 win.

Boise State's Tyler Jones makes the Stars of the Week for a second time this season. Jones kicked a 46-yard field goal with three seconds to play to give Boise State a 45-42 win over Tulsa and extend Boise State's winning streak to 17 games, the longest in the nation.
