Mike Enfield Selected College Soccer News National Player Of The Week
Oct. 18, 2004
Senior midfielder Mike Enfield has been named the College Soccer News National Player of the Week after a three-goal, one-assist performance in a Bay Area sweep at California (3-0) and Stanford (2-0).
In the upset win over 13th-ranked Cal, Enfield scored two goals, including the game-winner, and assisted on the other. His first goal came in the 48th minute, a header off a Jordan Harvey cross. In the 70th minute, he assisted Ramon Manak on his first goal as a Bruin. Enfield's second goal of the game came after he was taken down in the box by Cal's goalkeeper. Although Enfield's penalty shot was blocked, he followed through on his attempt and fired the rebound shot back into the net.
Against 10th-ranked Stanford, Enfield scored a critical insurance goal in the 71st minute, unassisted from the top of the box. The Bruins won the game 2-0 to increase their shutout streak against the Cardinal to seven games.
Enfield, who was also selected to the College Soccer News Team of the Week, leads the Pac-10 in scoring with eight goals and 17 points.
