Oct. 19, 2004

Stanford, Calif. - Stanford, the three-time defending conference champion, has been picked to win the 2005 Pac-10 Championship after receiving 79 points and eight first-place votes in the preseason coaches poll. Stanford has been ranked in the top-10 in four preseason polls, including a No. 6 ranking by Athlon, No. 7 by Street & Smith's, No. 8 by SLAM Magazine and No. 9 by Lindy's, and returns 11 letterwinners, including three starters, from last season's Co-Pac-10 Champion squad. This year, the Cardinal is poised to claim its fourth-straight conference crown.

Stanford shared the conference title with Arizona last year, as both finished the regular season with an identical 14-4 league mark.
