Oct. 19, 2004
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - WASHINGTON STATE junior goalkeeper Katie Hultin has been named the Pac-10 Women's Soccer Player of the Week for Oct. 12-18, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Hultin, from Denver, Colo., shut out both No. 8 UCLA (1-0) and No. 22 USC (2-0) last week, recording her fifth and sixth blankings of the season. She registered a combined 14 saves. The victories marked the first time Washington State has ever defeated both the Bruins and Women of Troy in the same season. Hultin helped lead WSU to its first shutout against UCLA since 1994 and its first against USC since 1998. On the season, she has allowed 13 goals in 13 games for a 0.99 goals against average. Hultin's six shutouts this year tie for fourth on the WSU single-season list. She is currently ranked second in the Pac-10 with 65 saves on the season.
The Cougars (7-5-2 overall, 2-2-0 Pac-10) will travel to Oregon to take on the Oregon Ducks Friday and Oregon State on Sunday.
