No. 13 Cal Volleyball Defeats Washington State, 3-0

PULLMAN, WA - The No. 13-ranked California volleyball team (11-7, 6-3) topped Washington State (3-19, 0-9), 3-0 (30-23, 30-21, 30-23), Saturday night at Bohler Gym in Pullman. Cal, led by freshman Angie Pressey's 14 kills with 11 digs, rebounded from a 3-0 loss to No. 1-ranked Washington the night before. The Golden Bears have now won four of their last five matches.
Cal out hit the Cougars, .358-.110, and were also led by 13 kills from senior outside hitter Gabrielle Abernathy and 10 kills and six block assists from junior middle hitter Alicia Powers. Senior middle hitter Camille Leffall had a stellar match as well, recording a .462 hitting percentage with seven kills and only one error in 13 attempts. Sophomore setter Samantha Carter finished with 50 assists and sophomore libero Jillian Davis had a team-high 13 digs.
Washington State was paced by Kelly Rosin's 13 kills.
The Bears will next host Bay Area rival and No. 11-ranked Stanford on Sunday, Oct. 31 at 3 p.m. at Haas Pavilion. Cal defeated the Cardinal for the first time since 1982 last season at Haas Pavilion, winning 3-2, Oct. 11. This season, the Bears were barely upended by Stanford, 3-2, at Burnham Pavilion on the Stanford campus Oct. 1.
