Quoting Ike Diogu:

On the offseason:'I just worked out at home. There wasn't much I could really do on the international scene because the Olympics went on this summer so I just trained at home and trained out here.'

On what he worked on in the offseason:'I tried to work on everything. I'm just tuning up my overall game and doing a lot more things on the perimeter. I'm also doing things to make me more explosive and put a big emphasis on playing better defense and rebounding.'

On whether he got bigger in the offseason:'Right now I'm practically the same. I'm probably two to three pounds heavier, but nothing really big. I'm the same height, same everything.'

On staying at ASU instead of going to the NBA:'I just really weighed everything with the way we finished last season. I really didn't want to leave on that type of note. We didn't really have a good season so I wanted to come back and work on a few things and try to help my stock a little bit more and also come back and have fun with the guys. I didn't really consider going to the NBA last year. I had already decided I was going to come back, even at the beginning of the season. Now I'm ready to turn this program around and take it to the next level.'

On the expectations for this season:'I expect us to make it to the tournament. I expect us to finish in the upper half of the Pac-10 this year. Those should be the expectations for everybody on this team. I feel like we have all the necessary tools and we're going to go out and get the job done this year.'

On the team gaining experience from last season:'They know what to expect when we go on the road and how to play in tough games. We had a lot of tough games that didn't go our way last year. So we're going to improve on that and we're looking forward to an exciting season.'

On what player on the team will surprise people the most this season:'I don't know because I'm pretty confident in all my teammates. You just have to come to the games and watch us play.'

On the difference between last season and the upcoming season:'I think that last year we had a lot of young guys and a lot of guys that came from successful programs so I think everybody was really frustrated that we lost and we had so much talent on last year's team. Things are going to be different this year because we are a year older. This is definitely going to be more challenging amongst the players this year than it was last year.'

On Ike Diogu's defense:'It needs to improve, but at the same time is it as bad as some people make it out to be? I don't think so at all. I've looked at a lot of tape from last year and there were a lot of great things that I did on the defensive end. Is it at the same level as my offensive game? I don't think so. Right now, I still need to improve in everything but is it as bad as most people think it is? Not at all.'
