UCLA's Chad Barrett Named Pac-10 Men's Soccer Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.-- UCLA sophomore forward Chad Barrett has been named the Pac-10 Men's Soccer Player of the Week for Oct. 19-25, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.

Barrett, from Beaverton, Ore., had two goals and one assist in UCLA's home sweep of the Bay Area schools. Against No. 17/NR Stanford on Oct. 22, Barrett assisted on the equalizing goal at 56:34 and then scored the game-winning goal at 87:16 to increase the Bruins' winning streak against the Cardinal to seven games. Barrett scored his third goal of the season in the 11th minute against No. 18/25 California on Oct. 24. Barrett's goal gave UCLA a 1-0 lead, but the Bruins then fell behind 3-1 before scoring three goals in the final 12 minutes of the game to win 4-3 in overtime.

UCLA (5-1-0, 9-2-2) has won four straight games, outscoring its opponents 11-4.

The Bruins travel to UC Irvine for a non-conference match this weekend.

This is the first weekly honor for Barrett, and the 20th all-time player of the week honor for the Bruins.
