Stanford Story: The Cardinal traveled to LA last weekend to take on Pac-10 rivals UCLA and USC ... Stanford split the weekend series, dropping a 1-0 game at UCLA and handing USC a 1-0 on Sunday ... the Cardinal has started the year with a 10-4-2 record and a 2-2-1 mark in Pac-10 play ... senior co-captain Marcie Ward leads the team with 15 points on seven goals and one assist, while junior Leah Tapscott trails with 12 points on four goals and four assists ... senior co-captain Nicole Barnhart is ranked No. 13 in the nation with a 0.494 goals-against average, after giving up only eight goals in the first 16 games.

Cardinal vs. Oregon: Stanford leads the all-time series versus Oregon, 7-0 ... the Ducks have only scored two goals against the Cardinal over the last seven years ... last season, Stanford won a 3-1 decision in Eugene ... the Cardinal has posted at least three goals in six of the seven meetings between the two squads.

Duck Dialogue: Oregon has started the year with a 3-10-2 overall record and an 0-4-1 mark in Pac-10 play ... the Ducks last won in the beginning of October, picking up a pair of wins against Wyoming and Gonzaga ... Oregon suffered its worst loss of the season at UCLA, when the Bruins scored a 6-0 victory ... last week, the Ducks tied Washington State, 1-1, in double overtime, but lost a 4-1 contest to Washington.

Cardinal vs. Oregon State: Stanford leads the overall series with Oregon State, 10-1 ... last year, the Beavers posted their first win over the Cardinal with a 1-0 decision in Corvallis.

Beaver Bulletin: Oregon State is 8-8-0 this season with a 2-3-0 record in conference action ... the Beavers will face Cal on Friday afternoon before coming to Stanford on Sunday ... forward Jodie Taylor goes into the weekend ranked in first place in the Pac-10 for goals (14) and points (30) ... goalkeeper Melissa Onstad is tied for fifth place in the conference with 5 shutouts and is ranked third with 64 saves.

Pac-10 Points: Every team in the Pac-10 has lost at least one conference game this season ... Arizona is the only squad to with just one loss, although UCLA is the lone squad with four wins ... Oregon remains the only winless team in conference play with an 0-4-1 record.

Tapscott Trivia: Junior midfielder Leah Tapscott was named Pac-10 Player of the Week on Oct. 4 after helping the Cardinal to a 0-0 tie at Santa Clara and a 2-1 victory over Saint Mary's ... Tapscott scored the game-winner against the Gaels ... the weekly conference honor is the first in her career and the first of the season for Stanford.

Barnhart Bullets: Senior goalie Nicole Barnhart was called up to the U.S. National Team last week and earned her first cap ... she has been named to the Soccer America and College Sports Television (CSTV) Preseason All-America teams, as well as the MAC Hermann Trophy Preseason Watch List ... the two-time All-American is co-captain of the Cardinal for the second-straight season ... she is one shutout away from moving up to No. 2 in the school record books for career shutouts ... with five blankings to her credit this season, Barnhart has recorded 34 in her career.

National Team Notes: Goalie Nicole Barnhart earned her first cap with the U.S. Senior National Team on Oct. 15 -as a forward ... The U.S. matched up against Mexico in Kansas City, Mo., on its Fan Celebration Tour, and Barnhart was called into the game after starting forward Angela Hucles rolled her ankle in the 81st minute and had to leave the match ... as the USA has already used all of its available substitutes, back-up goalkeeper Barnhart was sent into the game to play forward ... it is the first time in USA history that a goalkeeper has played in the field (although Mia Hamm played in goal during the 1995 Women's World Cup).

Rankings Report: After splitting a pair of games in LA last weekend, Stanford held steady in the polls ... the Cardinal is ranked No. 17 spot in the NSCAA/adidas poll, No. 18 in Soccer Times, No. 14 in Soccer America and No. 13 in Soccer Buzz.
