Washington Falls To Oregon, 31-6

EUGENE, Ore. - Kellen Clemens found freshman Cameron Colvin with a pairof touchdown passes to lead Oregon to a 31-6 victory Saturday over northwestrival Washington.

Defensive end Chris Solomona also returned an interception 8 yards foranother score for the Ducks (5-3, 4-1, Pac-10), who have won four straightgames after losing three of their first four.

Coming off its first shutout loss in 23 years, Washington was againpunchless offensively. Evan Knudson kicked a pair of field goals for theHuskies (1-7, 0-5) who have lost three straight. Washington's lone victory thisseason came at home against San Jose State.

The Huskies had won the last two against the Ducks, and riled both Oregonplayers and fans at Autzen Stadium two seasons ago by dancing on the midfield'O' after their victory.

This time, it was the Ducks' turn, and many of the players rushed the fieldto celebrate.

After Washington's initial indecision this week about which quarterback tostart, junior Casey Paus - who had success against Oregon last year - won outover sophomore Isaiah Stanback. Carl Bonnell was also in the mix at times,although he struggled with a recurring groin injury.

Paus had only limited success, completing 14 of 36 passes for 211 yards. Hewas intercepted four times.

Clemens was 21-of-34 for 134 yards and one interception.

The Ducks opened the scoring with Clemens' 16-yard pass to Colvin, whofought his way into the end zone as cornerback Sam Cunningham clawed at hislegs and jersey.

Kudson kicked a 41-yard field goal for Washington's only points of the firsthalf.

Jared Siegel kicked a 46-yard field goal for Oregon before Clemens againfound Colvin with a 7-yarder to make it 17-3 at halftime.

Knudson added a 37-yarder in the third quarter for the Huskies, who got asclose the Oregon 5 early in the fourth quarter when Paus' pass to BobbyWhithorne was intercepted by linebacker Ramon Reed.

Paus was intercepted again late in the game, and Solomona lumbered into theend zone to make it 24-6. The pass was meant for tailback Kenny James.

Terrence Whitehead had a 30-yard touchdown run for the final margin. Thetailback finished with 25 carries for 122 yards.

The rivalry between the Ducks and the Huskies dates to 1900, with Washingtonleading 58-34-5.
