Warburg and Corkery Head to National Indoor Championships

Ann Arbor, Mich. - Senior Sam Warburg and junior KC Corkery will represent Stanford at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association National Indoor Championships, beginning on Thursday at the University of Michigan Varsity Tennis Center.
The No. 2 seeded Warburg qualified for the National Indoor Championships after advancing to the final of the ITA All-American Championship in October, while Corkery earned an at-large bid following a quarterfinal appearance the ITA Regional Championships. Corkery and Warburg will be the No. 2 seeded tandem in the doubles draw.
The top eight seeds in men's singles this week are: (after the top four seeds, the next four are seeded '5-8 alphabetically'):

Cohen and Gard both captured the singles titles at the first national tournaments of the season, the ITA All-American Championships, back on October 10. They will be looking to become the first players to ever win the ITA All-American and National Indoor Championships in the same season. The No. 2 seeds are the players they beat in the finals, Northwestern's Grier and Stanford's Warburg. Cohen, a freshman, has collected three tournament titles this season and has beat teammate Grier, the nation's top-ranked player heading into this season, in each final.

The men's draw features the last three national title winners - Green and Wilson (ITA All-American), Stanford's Corkery and Warburg ('04 NCAAs) and Duke's Walter and Zimmerman ('03 ITA National Indoors).
First round singles and doubles matches take place on Thursday. Doubles begin at 9 a.m. ET and are followed by men's singles starting at 11:15 a.m. (and continuing through the remainder of the day). This weekend's semifinal and final matches will be broadcast live on the internet on www.RadioTennis.com. A complete schedule of play is listed on the www.ITATennis.com. The 2004 ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships, the nation's premier collegiate indoor tennis tournaments for Division I men and women, will be hosted by Michigan at its Varsity Tennis Center for the second straight year. The event features a 32-player singles field and 16-team doubles field for men and women, including: champions from Wilson/ITA Regional Championships held across the country during the past two weeks, the ITA National Small College champions, the champions of the Icy Hot/ITA Men's and Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships and at-large and wild card selections made last week by the ITA National Tournament Committee. Overall, more than 7,000 players from nearly 600 schools participate annually in the ITA Regional and National Intercollegiate Championships.
