Two Pac-10 Schools Ranked in USA Today/ESPN Top-25 Coaches' Preseason Poll

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.-- Two Pac-10 women's basketball teams -- STANFORD and ARIZONA -- are ranked among the Top-25 in the 2004-05 USA Today/ESPN Preseason Coaches' poll, released today.

The defending Pac-10 Co-Champions, the Cardinal and Wildcats are ranked No. 7 and No. 24, respectively. Stanford, the 2004 State Farm Pac-10 Tournament winner, is coming off a 27-7 season. The Cardinal advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight for the second time since its 1997 Final Four run last year. Stanford returns three starters this season.

Arizona went 24-9 overall last season and earned a second straight at-large bid to the 2004 NCAA Tournament. Arizona returns four starters for the 2004-05 season.

Three other Pac-10 teams -- UCLA, OREGON and ARIZONA STATE -- received votes in the coaches' poll.

Stanford opens its season on Nov. 19 in Salt Lake City against Utah while Arizona opens its season Nov. 12 hosting St. Mary's in the Women's Preseason NIT.
