WETMORE NAMED BIG 12 COACH OF THE YEAR

DALLAS- After coaching his ninth men's and eighth women's teams to conference championships, University of Colorado head cross country coach Mark Wetmore has been named the Big 12 Men's and Women's Coach of the Year, respectively, in a vote by the conference's head coaches the league office announced Wednesday.

            It is the 14th and 15th conference coach of the year accolades for the 10th year head coach as he has now earned eight straight men's coach of the year honors and has been named women's coach of the year seven of the last eight years.
 
            In addition to coach of the year honors, the
Big 12 announced its 2004 All-Big 12 Cross Country teams, awarded to the top 15 finishers in each race at the conference championships.  Buffs included on that team include Renee Metivier, Sara Slattery, Christine Bolf, Natalie Florence, Liza Pasciuto and Amber Smith on the women's side and Brent Vaughn, Bret Schoolmeester and Jon Severy on the men's.

            Colorado continues the 2004 campaign next Saturday, Nov. 13 when the Buffs travel to Fort Collins, Colo. To compete at the NCAA Mountain Region Championships, the qualifying race for the NCAA Championships, Nov. 22 in Terre Haute, Ind.
