Women's Golf Surges To Ninth At Las Vegas Collegiate

Sophomore Veronica Felibert shot 67 and junior Irene Cho shot 68 on Wednesday to key a third-round surge for the USC women's golf team, which finished ninth at the Las Vegas Collegiate held at Anthem Country Club.

The resulting USC team score of 284 in the final round was the second best round by any team throughout the tournament. The Women of Troy finished with a 54-hole total of 902, 27 strokes behind team champion UNLV (875). Washington was second (880), followed by Stanford (890).

Cho totaled 222 to lead USC in a tie for 14th. Felibert was right behind at 223 in a tie for 17th.

Hwanhee Lee of UNLV won the individual crown with a 215.

Also for USC, sophomore Catalina Marin shot 227 to finish tied for 33rd, junior Seiko Onoue shot 233 to tie for 53rd and freshman Jackie Desmond shot 239 to tie for 68th.

This tournament concludes USC's fall schedule. Play resumes on Feb. 7-9 at the Northrop Grumman Challenge in Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.
