Women's Tennis Hosts Thunderbird Collegiate Invitational

TEMPE, Ariz. -- The Arizona State women's tennis program will host its annual Thunderbirds Collegiate Tennis Invitational, Friday, November 5 through Sunday, November 7 at the Whiteman Tennis Center. Admission is free to the public.

The tournament will showcase some of the most competitive and highly ranked women's singles and doubles players from around the country. Participating schools include Arizona State, California, Kansas State, Michigan, Stanford and TCU.

The format will feature a main draw of 32 singles with consolation play for first-round losers, as well as a doubles main draw, consisting of 16 teams. Doubles will kick off the tournament each day with an 8:30 a.m. start with the singles main draw to follow.

The tournament is sponsored by the Phoenix Thunderbirds, who promote the city of Phoenix, by sponsoring athletic events and providing financial assistance to amateur athletes and youth oriented charities.

Additionally, the Thunderbirds sponsor the ASU/Thunderbird Collegiate Golf tournament held every year at the Karsten Golf Course on the campus of Arizona State.
