School Record Three Soccer Players Earn Academic All-District Honors

TEMPE, Ariz. -- A school record three Arizona State soccer players were named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District VIII team, announced Thursday by the organization. Senior Holly Azevedo claimed first-team honors while Juniors Elizabeth Bogus and Manya Makoski earned second-team acclaim. Earning a first-team selection, Azevedo will now be placed on the Academic All-American ballot that will be release on November 23.

Azevedo (Folsom, Calif.) is a Communications major and has posted backed-to-back 4.00 GPAs semesters. One of the team's top defenders, Azevedo was named Arizona State's Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year, as voted on by her peers within in the athletic department. She has played and started in all 17 games for the Sun Devils this year.

Bogus (Sandy, Utah) holds a 3.73 grade-point average in Interdisciplinary Studies. She is second on the team in game-winning goals with two, raising her career total to 10 for second all-time in ASU history. Additionally this year, Bogus is collecting the assists as well, leading the team with five and is also tied for second on the team in points (13).

Makoski (Trumbull, Conn.) is member of the Barrett's Honors College and carries a 3.74 grade-point average in Journalism/Mass Communications. Makoski, who has tallied two assists this season, is already fifth all-time in career assists with 16, only three shy of second. She is also leading the team in game-winning goals (3) -- including consecutive winners against Arizona and USC -- points (14) and is tied for the team-high in goals (6).
