Trojan Diving Invitational Begins Friday
Nov. 4, 2004
Trojan All-American divers Ray Vincent and Blythe Hartley will be in action this weekend when USC hosts the Trojan Diving Invitational on Friday and Saturday (Nov. 5-6) at McDonald's Stadium on the USC campus.
Among the schools joining USC and sixth-year head diving coach Hongping Li at the meet are Stanford, Hawaii, Nevada and Claremont College.
Events begin at 10 a.m. both days. Friday's competition will include the men's 1-meter springboard and women's 3-meter springboard. Saturday's competition includes women's 1-meter, men's 3-meter and men's and women's platform.
For the two-time NCAA title winning Hartley, the competition will be her first since 2003 after she spent last season training for the 2004 Olympics (where she won a bronze medal on synchronized 3-meter springboard). Vincent, an All-American each of the past two seasons, begins his quest to make it three in a row.
Another diver to keep an eye out for his sophomore Michael Hilde, who scored individually in all three events at the 2004 NCAA Championships. Sophomore Kenny Jenkins and junior Lindsay Draper also have potential to reach the NCAAs.
