Burdette Advances at ITA National Indoors

Ann Arbor, Mich. - Stanford senior Erin Burdette advanced to the Round of 16 in singles action at the 2004 ITA National Indoor Championships this afternoon. Burdette and doubles partner Alice Barnes also won their first round match and will compete in the quarterfinals tomorrow on the University of Michigan campus.
Barnes and Burdette started the day with an 8-2 victory over DePauw's Liz Bondi and Elizabeth Steele. They will take on third-seeded Jennifer Magley and Zerene Reyes of Florida in the quarterfinals. Burdette then posted a two-set win over USC's Lindsey Nelson in the opening round of singles play. She will face second-seeded Cristelle Grier of Northwestern in the Round of 16 tomorrow.
Barnes was knocked out of the main draw in singles, but will continue play in the consolation bracket. Kentucky's Aibika Kalsarieva defeated Barnes, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, this afternoon in the first round. Barnes will challenge Karin Coetzee of Wake Forest in the consolation Round of 16.
