Malone Named Semifinalist For Ray Guy Award

Nov. 5, 2004

USC junior punter Tom Malone was among 10 semifinalists named for the Ray Guy Award recognizing the nation's top collegiate punter the Greater Augusta Sports Council announced today (Nov. 5).

Malone, a 2003 All-American, is averaging 43.8 yards per punt, ranked 15th in the country and first in the Pac-10. Eighteen of his 30 punts this year have pinned opponents within the 20-yard line and nine have traveled at least 50 yards. His career average of 44.6 is above the school record (44.1).

A national voting body of Division I-A coaches and sports information directors, media, and former punters will decide the three award finalists and the winner.
