Rowing To Compete At Newport Autumn Rowing Festival On Sunday

LOS ANGELES -- The USC women's rowing team will compete in its second and final fall race this Sunday, Nov. 7, at the Newport Autumn Rowing Festival to be held at the Newport Aquatic Center in Newport Beach. The Women of Troy's Varsity Eight crews are looking for their fourth-straight first-place finish in the Women's Open 8+ division.
Last season, USC raced three crews in the Women's Open Eight division and nearly swept the competition by capturing first, third and fourth place. The Trojans' novice boats finished 12th and 17th in the Women's Frosh/Novice Eights race and the one fours boat finished 10th.
The event, which begins at 8 a.m. on Sunday morning, will cover a 4,400-meter course. Crews will launch from the west end of Lido Island and finish at the aquatic center.
The Women of Troy are racing three crews in the Women's Open 8+ division and two novice boats in the Women's Frosh/Novice 8+ category. The eights will launch at 8 a.m. and the novice eights at 10 a.m.
