Slovic Defeated At ITA National Indoor Championships

Nov. 5, 2004

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Washington's 14th-ranked sophomore Alex Slovic lost today in the Round of 16 at the ITA National Indoor Championships at the University of Michigan's Varsity Tennis Center. The defeat drops Slovic from contention for the year's second national championship in collegiate tennis.

UCLA's Ben Kohlloeffel outlasted Slovic in a close three-setter. Kohlloeffel captured the first set, 6-4, but Slovic responded with a 6-3 second set win. Slovic could not keep the momentum though, and lost the third set by a 6-4 score. It was only the second loss of the season for Slovic and both have come in closely contested third sets.

This tournament marked the end of the fall season for the men's tennis team. They won't return to action until the main dual season begins in late January.
