Women's Basketball to Wrap Up Exhibition Season Monday Night

TEMPE, Ariz.-- - The Arizona State women's basketball team wraps up the exhibition season on Monday night, taking on Team Concept, a squad of former college players. Monday's game will tip off at 6:30 p.m. at Wells Fargo Arena.
The game will be available in an internet-only broadcast on the Sun Devils' official web site, www.thesundevils.com, with Jeff Munn calling the action.
Led by junior Kristen Kovesdy who had 20 points on 10-of-11 shooting, the Sun Devils turned in an 84-41 victory over Strakonice, a traveling team from the Czech Republic, on Wednesday night in their exhibition opener. With the win, the team improved to 11-6 in exhibition games under ninth-year head coach Charli Turner Thorne. Last year, the Sun Devils won both of their exhibition games, defeating Latvian Select 92-41 and the West Coast All-Stars 77-57.
A total of four Sun Devils reached double figures for scoring in ASU's win over Strakonice. Sophomore Aubree Johnson had 12 points and six rebounds, while sophomore Emily Westerberg and junior Amy Denson each added 10. Senior Carrie Buckner led the team with 10 rebounds and six steals, while Buckner and senior Kylan Loney each had five assists. The Sun Devils shot 54.8 percent from the field and outrebounded the visitors 45-27.
Following their final exhibition tune-up on Monday, the Sun Devils open the 2004-05 regular season on Nov. 11-12 at the Women's Sports Foundation Classic in Baton Rouge, La. ASU will take on Virginia at 5 p.m. Central Time (6 p.m. in Arizona) in its first game on Thursday and either second-ranked LSU or Maine in its second on Friday (5 or 7 p.m. Central).
ASU's regular-season home opener is Saturday, Nov. 20 when the Sun Devils play host to San Diego at 6:30 p.m. at Wells Fargo Arena.
