KC Corkery and Sam Warburg Advance to Doubles Final at ITA National Indoor Championships

Ann Arbor, Mich. - The No. 2 seeded doubles tandem of junior KC Corkery and senior Sam Warburg advanced to the final of the ITA National Indoor Championships with an 8-6 win over Brian Hung and Ryan Heller of Michigan on Saturday. The duo will meet the top seeded team of Scott Green and Ross Wilson from Ohio State in the final, scheduled for 11:30 am (ET) on Sunday.

The Ohio State tandem advanced to the final with an 8-4 victory over Jason Beren and Martin Wetzel of Harvard on Saturday.The doubles final will be broadcast live on www.RadioTennis.com.

In singles play, the No. 2 seeded Warburg fell to Kentucky's Jesse Witten in a semifinal match. Witten, the No. 3 seed, defeated Warburg in three sets to move on to Sunday's final, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4.

Corkery advanced to the final of the consolation bracket with a pair of wins on Saturday. In the quarterfinals, Corkery handed Indiana's Jakub Praibis a 7-5, 7-6 defeat before upending Oklahoma's Marek Velicka in the semifinals, 7-6, 6-3. The junior will face Baylor's Lars Poerschke in the consolation final on Sunday. Poerschke moved onto the final with a semifinal win over Dante Cipulli of Southwest Baptist, 6-4, 6-3.

The 2004 ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships, the nation's premier collegiate indoor tennis tournaments for Division I men and women, will be hosted by Michigan at its Varsity Tennis Center for the second straight year. The event features a 32-player singles field and 16-team doubles field for men and women, including: champions from Wilson/ITA Regional Championships held across the country during the past two weeks, the ITA National Small College champions, the champions of the Icy Hot/ITA Men's and Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships and at-large and wild card selections made last week by the ITA National Tournament Committee. Overall, more than 7,000 players from nearly 600 schools participate annually in the ITA Regional and National Intercollegiate Championships.
