Walter Camp Football Foundation Names National 1-A Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week Arizona State's Andrew Walter and Notre Dame's Mike Goolsby earn weekly honors
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEKAndrew WalterSenior * Quarterback * Arizona StateWalter threw four touchdown passes, including a game-winning 4-yard scoringpass with nine seconds left, to lead 23rd-ranked Arizona State to a 34-31come-from-behind win over Pac-10 rival Stanford. A native of GrandJunction, Colo., Walter completed 28-of-43 passes for 415 yards in thevictory, which improved the Sun Devils' record to 7-2, 4-2 in the Pac-10.Walter also became the Pac-10's career touchdown pass leader (80),surpassing former Stanford great John Elway (77).
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEKMIKE GOOLSBYSenior * Linebacker * Notre DameGoolsby had a big game as Notre Dame upset 9th-ranked Tennessee, 17-13, onthe road before 107,266 in Knoxville, Tenn. A native of Joliet, Ill.,Goolsby recorded a season-high 14 tackles (7 solo) and added one sack tolead the Fighting Irish defensive unit. However, it was Goolsby's 26-yardinterception return for a touchdown in the third quarter that gave NotreDame (6-3) the lead for good.
