Fall Desert Collegiate Classic Roundup

Palm Springs, Calif. - UCLA freshman Tracy Lin advanced to the quarterfinals in singles, while the Bruin doubles team of Laura Gordon and Elizabeth Lumpkin played in the doubles final at the Women's Fall Desert Collegiate Classic over the weekend.

Lin defeated teammate Alex McGoodwin, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 in the round of 16 on Saturday. She ended up falling to USC's Anca Anastasiu, 6-4, 6-2 in Sunday's quarterfinals.

In the doubles draw, Gordon and Lumpkin defeated Fresno State's Courtney Jantz/Lucia Sainz, 8-5 in the semifinals to set up a meeting with Pepperdine's Caroline Raba and Sylvia Kosakowski for the title. Raba and Kosakowski won 8-2.

Also competing in the tournament in singles were Gordon (Rd. of 16), Anya Loncaric (2nd Rd.), Lumpkin (Rd. of 16), Sarah Gregg (2nd Rd.) and Amber Ray (1st Rd.).
