Men's Golf Places 16th At Carpet Capital Collegiate Classic

The No. 4 USC men's golf team shot a 913 over 54 holes this past weekend to place 16th at the Carpet Capital Collegiate held at the Farms Golf Club.

USC was 34 strokes back of team champion Georgia (879). Wake Forest was second (881), Georgia Tech was third (883), East Tennessee State was fourth (895) and Clemson was fifth (896).

The tournament wraps up the fall season for Troy, which has two other first-place finishes in its other three tournaments played thus far.

Senior Ben Hayes led the Trojans' effort, shooting a 226 to tie for 32nd. Rhys Davies of ETSU was first with a 217.

Also for the Trojans, sophomore Joshua Wooding tied for 46th (228), junior Tyler Ley tied for 46th (229), junior Taylor Wood tied for 55th (231) and sophomore Jordan Nasser tied for 72nd (235).

USC is next in action at the Taylor Made Intercollegiate in Waikoloa, Hawaii, on Feb. 9-11.
