The 19th season of Pacific-10 Conference women's basketball tips off officially this week, as ARIZONA STATE meets Virginia Wednesday in the Women's Sports Foundation Classic hosted by No. 2 LSU... ARIZONA plays host to Saint Mary's on Thursday in the first round of the preseason WNIT... The Wildcats look to extend their 27-game home win streak, which ties Western Illinois for the third longest streak in the nation behind Texas (36) and Louisiana Tech (28)... WASHINGTON is the third Pac-10 team to open the regular season this week, as the Huskies host the WBCA BTI Classic, Sun., Nov. 14 through Mon., Nov. 15... The field includes South Carolina, UNLV and No. 14 Minnesota... Defending Pac-10 Co-Champion STANFORD debuted at No. 7 in the preseason USA Today/ESPN/WBCA coaches' poll, while Co-Champion ARIZONA is ranked 24th, the Wildcats' second straight preseason ranking in the coaches' poll... Three Conference teams -- UCLA, ARIZONA STATE and OREGON -- received votes in the preseason poll.

ARIZONA: UA plays Baden Sports Monday night in its final exhibition game before opening the season against Saint Mary's in the first round of the preseason WNIT on Friday... FR Jessica Arnold will make her second start at guard, following a 10-point, three-assist effort Nov. 2 in UA's first exhibition game... JR C Shawntinice Polk led the Wildcats with 17 points (on 62 percent shooting), seven rebounds, five steals, two assists and two blocks in the first exhibition... Arizona is ranked in the preseason USA Today/ESPN/WBCA coaches' poll for the second year in a row.
ARIZONA STATE: The Sun Devils play their final exhibition game Monday night before opening the regular season Nov. 11-12 at the Women's Sports Foundation Classic in Baton Rouge, La.... ASU will play Virginia in the first round and either second-ranked LSU or Maine in the second... In its first exhibition on Nov. 3, ASU outscored Strakonice 16-6 in the paint and held a 45-27 advantage on the boards... JR F Kristen Kovesdy scored 16 of her 20 points in the second half.
CALIFORNIA: Cal plays its final exhibition Wednesday against Bay Area Pro-Am... FR C Jessica Lawson led all scorers with 17 points, adding five rebounds, four steals and two blocks in the Bears' first exhibition Nov. 3 against Baden Sports... Cal outrebounded its opponents 60-33... Three starters and nine letterwinners return from last year's Golden Bear team, which posted a 12-17 overall record after opening the year with an 8-2 mark, the program's best start in 11 years.
OREGON: The Ducks cruised to a 75-23 exhibition win over Western Oregon on Nov. 5, shooting 51 percent (32-of-63) from the field... Seniors Andrea Bills and Cathrine Kraayeveld dominated the inside with 12 and 10 points, respectively... Kraayeveld, who has recovered from surgery on a torn ACL, added a game-high nine rebounds... Oregon plays host to the Sports Travelers in its final exhibition Nov. 12 at McArthur Court.
OREGON STATE: The Beavers play their final exhibition game Sunday, then open the season Nov. 19 with Idaho State... In its first exhibition game Nov. 7, OSU limited Baden Sports to just 17 second-half points and held a 52-35 rebounding advantage for the game... JR post Karen Vickery led the Beavers with 11 points in her first career start, while SO G Casey Bunn, coming off a redshirt season in 2003-04, added eight points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
STANFORD: The Cardinal, ranked No. 7 in the preseason USA Today/ESPN/WBCA coaches' poll, return 11 letterwinners, including three starters from last year's NCAA Elite Eight squad... Stanford was tabbed the preseason favorite to win the Pac-10 by league coaches and was picked by the media to tie with Arizona for the Conference crown... The three-time defending Pac-10 Champions shared the 2004 league title with Arizona... Stanford is ranked in the Top-10 in four national preseason polls, with a No. 6 ranking by Athlon... The Cardinal open the regular season Nov. 19 at Utah.
UCLA: The Bruins could open up the regular season facing six straight teams which advanced to postseason play a year ago (TCU, Miami, Texas and Purdue were in the NCAA tournament; Clemson and Pepperdine played in the WNIT)... UCLA opens the regular season on Nov. 19 against TCU in the first round of the Miami (Fla.) Jam... Eleven letterwinners return for the Bruins this season, led by the 'triple threat' of leading scorer and rebounder Noelle Quinn, No. 2 scorer Nikki Blue and Pac-10 steals leader and No. 3 scorer Lisa Willis.
USC: The Women of Troy, under the leadership of new head coach Mark Trakh, open the 2004-05 season at the DePaul Moran Realty Classic in Chicago, Nov. 19-20... Trakh, who was hired in April and has a history of success after spending 11 seasons at nearby Pepperdine and 13 years on the prep level, looks to begin a new era of Women of Troy basketball with nine returning letterwinners and four newcomers... JR G Meghan Gnekow is the only full-time starter on the roster... She averaged 7.9 points and 5.5 rebounds last season.
WASHINGTON: The Huskies host their final exhibition Monday night with Vanguard University... Coming off an 86-49 victory over Baden Sports on Oct. 31, Washington officially opens its 31st season of women's basketball hosting the WBCA BTI Classic, Nov. 14-15... South Carolina, UNLV and No. 14 Minnesota comprise the tournament field... JR G Kayla Burt scored a team-high 13 points in her first game since suffering a cardiac arrest on Dec. 31, 2002, leading the Huskies to an exhibition win over Baden Sports.
WASHINGTON STATE: SO F Kate Benz recorded a double-double of 16 points and 23 rebounds in the Cougars' 67-46 exhibition win over Team Concept Nov. 6... Benz's rebound performance would have tied the Pac-10's second-best single-game performance and set the new WSU single-game record if it had occurred in the regular season... The Cougars suited up just seven players as they were without the services of JR G Crystal Blue and FR G Jordan McCormick (injuries)... WSU opens the 2004-05 campaign at home against Boise State Nov. 19, the first game of a double-header with the men's team.
