General Comments:
'It was Coach Bone's idea to bring Westmont in and I thought it was a great idea. They run a similar offense to four or five of the teams we're going to see in our non-conference schedule. They are a well-coached team. In the first half I thought we came out and were trying too hard not to make mistakes. We were trying to be perfect. But give Westmont credit. They came out and were shooting 75% late in the first half so they were well-prepared. Our energy enabled us to loosen up in the second half. We were really crashing the boards. We've got another game in 10 days and we won't have some of our horses for that. We need to execute better offensively and be a little more quick.'

On Brandon Burmeister:
'Playing Brandon was two-fold. For one he's going to see a lot more minutes against SPU with our guys out for that game. But he has earned it in practice as well. He can do a lot of things on the court. Whatever team he plays with, he's like the glue for them.'

On Joel Smith and Jamaal Williams:
'Joel had a nice game offensively. Defensively he got introduced to the college game. He will need to improve quickly over the next seven days. Jamaal missed some shots that I haven't seen him miss since the 9th grade. He hadn't played a game in front of a live crowd in a year so there was a little rust. He'll be fine. You've better guard him because he's got a nose for the basket.'

General Comments:
'I thought Washington did a nice job of responding in the second half. I don't know what Lorenzo told them, but he gets an A+ for his halftime speech. I thought that we played well for about 15 minutes in the first half, but Washington's athleticism took over in the last five minutes as they started to pull a way. Our guys got a little fatigued and we lost our confidence in the second half.'

On Washington playing division 1 teams:
'I think that they are going to be a very tough team to beat. My brother in law is the head coach at UCLA, so I think that his team is going to have a hard time playing against these guys. Washington shoots the ball really well. Our intention was if we were going to get beat, we were going to get beat from the outside. We did a pretty good job handling our defense when we packed our defense into the paint.'

On Washington standouts:
'I think Brandon Roy is a very special player. He is a very good player that can keep his poise throughout the entire game, he is a stabilizer. They have a lot of guys on this team that are capable of doing a lot of things on the floor. They shoot the ball very well from the outside.'

On playing Division I teams in the preseason:
'I think that it is great for us to play against harder competition. We play UCSB on Friday and they are another division 1 opponent. It probably won't feel as pressure packed as it did tonight, but hopefully we can play a little better of a game then we did tonight.'
