The Bay Area will come alive with more Big Game events than ever before! 2004 Big Game Week begins on Sunday, Nov. 14 with the Battle of the Bands at Pier 39 and continues through Saturday, Nov. 20, as the 107th annual Big Game featuring Cal vs. Stanford kicks off at Memorial Stadium.
Mark your calendar, and put on your Blue and Gold to join us at the weeklong festival of events held throughout the Bay Area.
Sunday, November 14
BATTLE OF THE BANDS
Pier 39, San Francisco, 1:00 p.m.
The official kickoff event of Big Game Week. The Cal Band versus the Stanford Band in a two-hour musical face-off at scenic Pier 39. Wear your school colors and join the bands, dance teams and spirit groups in this Big Game celebration. Stop by the College Shop at Pier 39 to win Big Game tickets! Monday, November 15
CABLE CAR RALLY
Union Square, San Francisco, 12 noon
Join the Cal Band, Dance Team, Mic Men, UC Rally Committee and Oski as they spread the Cal spirit around the city of San Francisco. It all begins at Ghirardelli Square when the band and spirit groups board Cable Cars to Union Square. You can join the rally when they arrive at Union Square at noon. There will be a one-hour performance in Union Square from Noon to 1:00 p.m. Admission is free.
BIG GAME NIGHT RALLY
Bowles Hall, UC Berkeley, 9:00 p.m.
Big Game spirit comes alive on the Cal campus with the Cal Band and spirit groups leading night rallies around the University. The performance ends with the traditional 'lighting of Sather Gate.' Admission is free.
Tuesday, November 16
THE BIG SAIL
St. Francis Yacht Club, San Francisco, 12 noon
The Cal sailing team takes on the Stanford sailing team in the San Francisco Bay. Spectator viewing available at the St. Francis Yacht Clubhouse. Awards presentation and ceremony follow the event. Event viewing is free and lunch is available for purchase.
Wheeler Auditorium, UC Berkeley, 8:00 p.m.
Come enjoy an evening of musical rivalry! Featuring many vocal groups from both Cal and Stanford, this evening showcases the rivalry from a fun and different perspective. General admission tickets are $10 and students are $5.
Wednesday, November 17
BART presents: HALFTIME @ LUNCHTIME
Embarcadero BART, San Francisco, 12 noon
The Cal Band and Stanford Band will perform on Market Street in this new and unique Big Game celebration. Join the band, dance team and spirit groups to support Cal at this one-hour performance adjacent to the Embarcadero BART station in downtown San Francisco. Admission is free.
Thursday, November 18
THE BIG FREEZE
Berkeley Iceland (2727 Milvia St., Berkeley), 8:30 p.m.
The Cal ice hockey club team takes to the ice to play Stanford in this annual event. Tickets may be purchased at the game or in advance at www.calicehockey.com. Tickets for Adults are $8, Students/Youth are $6.
Friday, November 19
Greek Theatre, UC Berkeley, Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
Coach Tedford and the Cal football team join the UC Rally Committee, Cal Band, Dance Team, Oski, Mic Men and many others in the final rally before the Big Game. Over 5,000 people are expected at this year's festive celebration. Admission is free.
Saturday, November 20
THE BIG SPLASH
Spieker Aquatics Complex, 10:00 a.m.
Cal men's water polo hits the pool to take on Stanford. Both teams are nationally ranked in the top five. Teams will not only be competing for Bay Area bragging rights, but also for points in Lexus Gauntlet Trophy Series. Reserved Seats are $15 and can be purchased in advance by calling (800) GO BEARS.
THE 107th BIG GAME
Memorial Stadium, 12:30 p.m.
The football rivalry began in 1892 and continues to be one of the most celebrated sporting traditions in the Bay Area. FunZone begins 2 1/2 hours before the game with the team's 'March to Victory' parade 2 hours and 20 minutes prior to the game. Game tickets are SOLD OUT. Pregame festivities are free. The Big Game will be televised live on Fox Sports Net and broadcast on KGO 810 AM.
