UCLA Women's Basketball Signs Local Standout Ashlee Trebilcock
Nov. 10, 2004
UCLA head women's basketball coach Kathy Olivier announced today the signing of local standout Ashlee Trebilcock of Newhall, CA (Hart HS) to a national letter-of-intent. She will enter UCLA in the fall of 2005 as a freshman and become a member of the 2005-2006 Bruin team.
Trebilcock, a 5-9 guard, is considered by some publications to be one of the top 25 recruits in the nation. She led her team to the Foothill League championship in 2004 and to the final game of the CIF Southern Section Division I championship, where she scored a career-high 34 points. The Los Angeles Daily News named her its Player of the Year following both the 2003 and 2004 seasons. She attended the Nike All-America camp in the summer of 2003 and was selected to participate in the 2004 USA Junior Olympic tryouts in Colorado Springs, CO. Regarded as one of the nation's top guard prospects, Trebilcock averaged 21.9 points, 5.5 rebounds and handed out 94 assists during the 2004 season. In 2003, she averaged 16.7 points during her sophomore season for the Indians.
'With the signing of Ashlee, we have continued to be successful in our quest to keep the best players in Southern California here at home,' said Olivier. 'Ashlee brings a great deal of talent, experience and promise to the table. She comes from a winning program and brings a number of positive intangibles to our team in addition to her outstanding playing ability. We have now put together our fourth straight top-level recruiting class, which makes me very excited about the future of UCLA Basketball. Ashlee will add a great deal more to that excitement.'
