Adams Named To Academic All-District First Team

LOS ANGELES -- For the second straight year, USC women's volleyball senior Emily Adams has been named to the 2004 Academic All-District VIII first team, announced the CoSIDA District VIII committee on Thursday, Nov. 11.

In 2003, Adams was also selected to the all-region first team and went on to earn national Academic All-American second-team honors. The 6-foot-6 middle blocker is also a two-time AVCA All-America first team pick.

Adams is one of seven athletes (6-of-7 are from the Pac-10) selected from District VIII. All first-team selections will be included on the national women's volleyball Academic All-American ballot. First, second and third team national winners will be announced on Dec. 3.

Athletes must have at least a 3.20 GPA, be a 'starter' or 'important reserve' on their team and must be in at least their second season at their school to be eligible.

Adams is an international relations major with a 3.65 cumulative grade point average. As a second-year team co-captain, Adams has led the Women of Troy to two NCAA Championships and two Pac-10 Championship over the last three years. She was named Pac-10 Player of the Week on Oct. 4 of this season and continues to lead the conference in attack percentage.
