Hayes Named PAC-10 Men's Golfer Of The Month

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.--Ben Hayes of USC has been named Pacific-10 Conference Golfer of the Month. The award covers the period of September and October 2004.

Hayes, a senior from Paradise Valley, Ariz., won his first collegiate tournament with a victory in the Opus Husky Invitational. He led the Trojans to the team title in the process. Hayes also finished tied for 10th at the Jerry Pate Invitational while shooting a career 54-hole best of 208.

Hayes is averaging 72.25 strokes per round and has led USC to two victories in its three tournaments this year.

Others nominated for player of the month honors were Ryan Gilmour of Oregon State, Alex Prugh of Washington, David Fern of Washington State and Rob Grube of Stanford.
