Ogonna Nnamani Named to Academic All-District First Team

Stanford, Calif. - For the third straight year, Stanford women's volleyball senior Ogonna Nnamani (Normal, IL) has been named to the 2004 Academic All-District VIII first team, announced the CoSIDA District VIII committee on Thursday, Nov. 11.

She was selected as a CoSIDA Academic All-American (third team) in 2002 and 2003.

Nnamani is one of seven athletes (6-of-7 are from the Pac-10) selected from District VIII. All first-team selections will be included on the national women's volleyball Academic All-American ballot. First, second and third team national winners will be announced on Dec. 3.

Athletes must have at least a 3.20 GPA, be a 'starter' or 'important reserve' on their team and must be in at least their second season at their school to be eligible.

Nnamani has started all 23 matches at outside hitter in 2004 averaging 5.69 kills, 2.17 digs and 0.63 blocks with a .341 hittingpercentage. A three-time AVCA All-American and All-Pac-10 selection, she is the school record holder and No. 2 in Pac-10 history in career kills. Nnamani has recorded 51 consecutive matches with double-figure kills and posted 500 or more kills in three consecutive seasons. She was a 2004 U.S. Olympian with women's indoor team as well.
