No. 11 Cardinal Sweep Oregon State 3-0

Corvallis, Calif. - Senior outside hitter Ogonna Nnamani tallied a match-high 23 kill to lead the 11th-ranked Stanford women's volleyball team to a 3-0 sweep of Oregon State tonight before a crowd of 1,423. Game scores were 30-21, 30-27, 30-20. The Cardinal improve to 19-6 on the season, 11-3 in the Pac-10 while the Beavers fall to 10-14 overall, 4-11 in league play.

Oregon State raced to a quick 5-0 lead to open game one and led until the Cardinal tied it up at 13-all on a service ace by Bryn Kehoe. Stanford led 15-13 at the media timeout after a block solo by Lizzie Suiter. OSU took their first timeout trailing 18-14 after a hitting error by the Beavers. The Cardinal continued to roll going up 25-16 on a block by Franci Girard and Bryn Kehoe. The reached game point on a service ace by Courtney Schultz and closed out the game with a block solo by Ogonna Nnamani at 30-21.

OSU once again took the early lead going up 5-2 on a Stanford hitting error. The Cardinal called their first timeout trailing 9-13 after a Beaver service ace. Stanford tied up the game at 14-all on an Oregon State hitting error. The two teams traded points as OSU took a timeout at 20-21 after a Beaver attack went long. After Stanford took a 26-22 lead, Oregon State got three quick points to close the gap to one and force a Cardinal timeout. Stanford scored the next two points out of the timeout and reached game point at 29-26 on a Beaver ball-handling error. A kill by Ogonna Nnamani closed out the game at 30-27.

Sophomore outside hitter Kristin Richards went down in the second game with an ankle sprain and did not return.

The Cardinal led 9-6 early in game three as the Beavers took their first timeout after a kill by Ogonna Nnamani. Stanford continued to push forward going up 17-11 on a kill by Lizzie Suiter. The Cardinal pressed on and went up 28-17 on a service ace by Leahi Hall. Ogonna Nnamani notched her 22nd kill of the match to put Stanford at game point at 29-19. Another Nnamani kill gave the Cardinal the win at 30-20.

Bryn Kehoe led the team with 42 assists and 12 digs on the evening. Fellow freshman Franci Girard chipped in eight kills while hitting at a .412 clip. Jennifer Hucke and Njideka Nnamani added six kills each with Hucke notching 10 digs as well. Lizzie Suiter led the match with four blocks as well.

The Beavers were led by Allison Lawrence's 15 kills. Desma Stovall and Nina Baltimore each added 14 digs to the OSU effort.

The Cardinal are back in action next week hosting No. 1 Washington and Washington State in Burnham Pavilion.
