Nov. 14, 2004

FRESNO, Calif. - Oregon State ended its women's cross country season Saturday by placing 16th out of 28 teams at the NCAA West Regional in Woodward Park. Sophomore Ashley Younce once again led the way for the Beavers, finishing 32nd in the 199-runner field.

Stanford won the race with 29 points and had four racers in the top seven. Arizona State finished the race with 45 points and came in second place.

Younce finished the race with a time of 21minutes, 36 seconds, and was three places away from qualifying for the NCAA Championships. Another top finisher for the Beavers was Neoma Palmer, who finished 58th with a time of 22 minutes and 13 seconds.

The Beavers' No. 3 runner, Kaitlin Poggi, had stomach problems and could not finish the race, otherwise the Beavers could have finished as high as 12th.

'We had a great day today, we finished the season on a high note.' Said head coach Kelly Sullivan 'The girls had as good of a performance as we have had all season.'

'For our first season back, we ended it on a great note. I'm excited, we feel good about what we've done.'
