Stanford Finishes Fall Season Strong

Nov. 14, 2004

The Stanford Women's Crew concluded their fall racing season at the Head of the Lake Regatta in Seattle, Washington. The Cardinal competed in the Women's Championship Eight and the Women's Championship Four events. The three-mile fall racing format has the boats stagger start on 10-15 second intervals. The Stanford eight started second in their event behind the University of Victoria with the Washington Huskies starting in third. The Cardinal closed on University of Victoria throughout the race. The Huskies and the Cardinal paced each other down the course with the Huskies edging the Card by 3.5 seconds.

Stanford had the fifth place starting position in the Champ Four event. After a marginal start Stanford picked up their pace and pushed away from the pack with the leading three boats. The Cardinal finished a solid third out of the seventeen total entries.

The Stanford Novice completed their fall racing at the Head of the Lagoon Regatta in Foster City. The Stanford boat won their event by just over one minute to second place Santa Clara.

Stanford begins their championship racing season on March 29 against University of British Columbia.
