No. 4 Stanford Wins Five Of Seven Events On Second Day Of Speedo Cup

Long Beach, Calif. - Stanford won five of the seven events contested and remained comfortably in the team lead on the second day of the three-day short-course yards 2004 Speedo Cup being hosted by UC Irvine at the Belmont Plaza Pool. Caroline Bruce picked up Stanford's lone NCAA 'A' qualifying mark by capturing the 100 breast in 1:01.75. Lacey Boutwell (200 free, 1:48.68), Laura Davis (400 IM, 4:17.31) and Dana Kirk (100 fly, 54.51) won their respective events in NCAA 'B' times. Stanford also won the 800 free relay to conclude the day's competition with a team of Desiree Staley, Elizabeth Durot, Morgan Hentzen and Boutwell.
