Women's Swimming Defeats Washington State

PULLMAN, Wash.-- The 24th-ranked Washington women's swimming team defeated cross-state rival Washington State 155-102 this evening at Gibb Pool. The win improves Washington's dual meet record to 9-2, while the Cougars dip to 2-1.
Seven different Huskies won events, including triple-event winner Caitlyn Shortt and double-event winner Sharon Olson.
Shorrt won the 100 (1:04.53) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:18.05) events and the 200 individual medley (2:05.92). Olson won the 200 (1:52.45) and 500 freestyle (5:01.47) races.
Other Husky winners included Blythe Murray in the 1000 freestyle (10:26.29), Desiree Johnson in the 100 backstroke (58.06), Anissa Hilyard (2:03.85) in the 200 butterfly, Brittany Epperson (24.15) in the 50 freestyle and Nicole Bernard (2:05.61) in the 200 backstroke.
The UW women also won the 400 freestyle relay (3:48.66) with the combination of Johnson, Shortt, Hilyard and Olson.
The Husky women will continue their weekend road trip with a dual meet at Idaho Saturday at 11 a.m.
