Four Arizona State Wrestlers Capture Titles at Fullerton Open Saturday

TEMPE, Ariz. - The No. 22 Arizona State University wrestling team officially opened its 2004-05 season as the Sun Devils headed to the Fullerton Open Saturday in Fullerton, Calif. The tournament, hosted by Cal State Fullerton inside Titan Gym, saw 15 Sun Devils enter the competition with four competitors winning championship titles. Complete results were not available at the time of this release.
Jeremy Mendoza (Jr., Temecula, Calif.) at 125-pounds, Patrick Williams (Sr., Homestead, Fla.) at 149, C.B. Dollaway (Jr., Mt. Gilead, Ohio) at 184 and Cain Velasquez (Jr., Yuma, Ariz.) at heavyweight each won titles in their respective weight classes. They were joined by a quartet of teammates that placed in the Top 4 of the standings, including fourth place by Brian Stith (So., Hampton, Va.) at 157, second place by Patrick Pitsch (Fr., Spanaway, Wash.) at 165, second place by Ryan Bader (Jr., Reno, Nev.) at 197 and third place by Cain Velasquez (Sr., Phoenix, Ariz.) at heavyweight.

The Sun Devils return to the road next weekend as they face No. 9 Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa, Saturday at 7 p.m. before concluding the trip with a 2 p.m. Sunday dual with No. 5 Iowa State.
