Sarah Watkins Named First-Team All-Pac-10 Volleyball Academic

TEMPE, Ariz. ( -- Arizona State junior outside hitter Sarah Watkins has been named a First-Team All-Pac-10 Academic selection as announced by conference commissioner Tom Hansen. Watkins was also named to the Academic All-District VIII team last month and is a top candidate for the Academic all-America team with a 4.0 GPA in Education.

Sophomore outside hitter Nicole Morton (Bonsall, Calif.) also earned honorable mention All-Pac-10 Academic honors.

Watkins (Mishawaka, Ind.) repeats as a first-team All-Pac-10 academic selection. She is second on the team averaging 2.99 kpg (245 kills) and has recorded 12 matches with double-digits in kills. Watkins also ranks in the top three in the Pac-10 with 0.38 service aces per game and is averaging 3.58 points per game.

The selection for Watkins marks the sixth straight year Arizona State has had at least one student-athlete represented on the All-Pac-10 Academic first-team. With 35 all-time All-Pac-10 Academic selections (first and second team), ASU continues to lead all Pac-10 schools.
