Nov. 22, 2004

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Stanford outside hitter Ogonna Nnamani has been named Pac-10 Volleyball Player of the Week for Nov. 15-21, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.

Nnamani, a senior from Normal, Ill., recorded a career-high 37 kills in leading the Cardinal to a five-game upset of previously undefeated and No. 1 ranked Washington. She followed that up with a 20-kill performance in Stanford's three-game sweep of Washington State. For the weekend, Nnamani collected 57 kills (7.12 kpg) and 12 digs (1.50 dpg) while hitting at a .336 clip. Her 37 kills against the Huskies were the third most in Stanford history for a single match, and tied for 15th in the Pac-10's annals.

For the season, Nnamani has recorded 607 kills, third most all-time by a Stanford player and just 20 shy of the school record for kills she set last season. For her career, Nnamani has recorded 2,234 kills, most in Stanford history and 22 away from the Pac-10 record, held by Kristee Porter of UCLA. Nnamani already holds the Pac-10 record for attack attempts, having taken 5,043 swings in her career.

The No. 7 Cardinal host Santa Clara on Tuesday before traveling to Arizona and Arizona State this weekend to finish out the regular season.

This is the sixth weekly honor for Nnamani, and Stanford's 53rd Player of the Week honor all-time.
