Sanja Tomasevic Named Pac-10 Volleyball Player of the Week

Nov. 29, 2004

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Washington outside hitter Sanja Tomasevic has been named Pac-10 Volleyball Player of the Week for Nov. 22-28, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.

Tomasevic, a senior from Uzice, Serbia and Montenegro, recorded 22 kills, 20 digs, three aces and three blocks in leading the Huskies to a 3-1 victory over UCLA that clinched Washington's first-ever Pac-10 title outright. That performance followed a 20-kill, 30-dig effort in the Huskies five-game loss to USC. The match against the Trojans was Tomasevic's first start since breaking her hand on Oct. 14.

For the weekend, Tomasevic recorded 42 kills (4.67 kpg) 50 digs (5.56 dpg) and four aces (0.44 apg). Despite missing most of Pac-10 play with injury, Tomasevic is currently seventh in Husky history with 1,220 kills.

The No. 5 Huskies (24-2, 16-2) kick off the NCAA Tournament against Idaho at home, where they will host the first and second round.

This is the third weekly honor for Tomasevic, and Washington's 15th Player of the Week all-time.
